Postdoctoral scholars can secure funding from fellowship programs or external granting agencies or may be offered funding from their faculty mentors’ grant or research resources. Note that there are also External Scholarships Competitions coordinated by the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS) at Western- a list can be found here. SGPS also hosts information sessions on several of these competitions. There exist several fellowship programs offered to prospective and current postdoctoral scholars each year. Interested applicants are encouraged to review all application information to confirm their eligibility. The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program is jointly administered by Canada's three federal granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). This prestigious and competitive program, established in 2007, provides financial support to the best and brightest scholars from Israel and around the world. These scholars use their training to become leaders in their respective fields and raise Israel's profile internationally, maintaining strong academic and professional links between Israel and the rest of the world.
